Maintaining production a major challenge in plant re-organization
When Adams Manufacturing decided to restructure its worldwide manufacturing operations, the Toronto plant was selected as a manufacturing center for the Halls line of cough tablets. To support this initiative, the plant required a major upgrade to increase Halls production and re-organize the other product lines.
In order to keep the plant running, it was necessary to complete the re-organization in a total of five (5) carefully planned stages.
The project included:
- a system for pre-mixing powder ingredients
- dust collection
- two stages of continuous cookers
- a tablet line with mixing, forming, cooling and packaging operations
- piping for ingredients and services
- power distribution
- demolition and removals
- new rooms and kitchen with special finishes
Dick Engineering was retained to perform the following services:
- code compliance and permitting
- detailed engineering
- construction management
- field engineering
