Vinegar Plant
Reinhart Vinegars Ltd.

Following a devastating fire, Reinhart rebuilds in 8 months

Reinhart Vinegars Ltd., located in Stayner, Ontario, is Canada's largest vinegar producer. Dick Engineering had just completed the design of a new satellite plant for Reinhart when the news came that the main plant in Stayner had been destroyed by fire.

We were instructed to begin to re-build the plant immediately and within 8 months the new plant started up as the "most modern vinegar making plant in the world."

Due to the circumstances, it was possible to incorporate several improvements over the original plant, which dated back to 1910:

  • improved material flow and space utilization with provision for future expansion
  • high density finished goods storage using pallet racking
  • liquid storage containment to provide modern environmental protection and loss prevention
  • special floor finishes to lower maintenance costs
  • energy conservation measures to lower energy costs

Dick Engineering's scope included:

  • site planning
  • detailed design including building, tanks and process piping
  • procurement of process equipment
  • cost control, scheduling and contract administration
